Microsoft recently announced that Windows 8.1 will usher in yet another system update, but not everyone predicts Windows 8.1 Update 2, and is known as the "August Update".

Microsoft clarified: "In short, we don't intend to release Windows 8.1 'Update 2' regardless of rumors and guesswork."

After the release of Windows 8.1 Update in April, many sources speculated that Microsoft will release the second major update of Windows 8.1, Windows 8.1 Update 2, at the end of this summer. Microsoft stated that their goal is to continue to provide improvements for Windows through regular updates and respond quickly based on user feedback. Therefore, this "August Update" is not like the Windows 8.1 Update, which bundles a large number of new features together into a larger system update, but like its name, just a monthly update.

Microsoft said that similar updates will be released in the future, using the existing Windows Update monthly update push mechanism, in addition to the "Tuesday Patch Day" security patches, to provide users with more frequent system improvements.

Microsoft said "We will use traditional channels to release updates for Windows such as Windows Update (WU), Microsoft Update (MU), and Windows Server Update Services (WSUS). Microsoft's next patch Tuesday is August 12. Microsoft announced that the upcoming system updates include:

- More precise touch control. Microsoft will provide three new end-user settings: keep the touchpad open when connecting a mouse; allow a right-click on the touchpad; double-click and drag.

- Miracast Receive. This is a WiFi Direct application program interface (API) for independent hardware providers and OEM manufacturer drivers that can make a computer a Miracast receiver.

- Minimize SharePoint Online login prompts. This will reduce the number of prompts that pop up when users log on to the SharePoint Online site. If you check "Stay signed in" when logging in for the first time, you won't see any additional pop-up prompts when you log in.

Microsoft stated that the above system updates will be included in this update. Windows 8.1 users will automatically receive these updates through Windows Update, while enterprise users can choose whether to deploy these updates through Windows Server Update Services.
